Meet the team

Safedome is an innovation by Maxwell Forest, a financial technology company founded in 2011. By bringing together cutting edge technologies and great design, we’re innovating to solve the real problems – big and small – that we all face every day.

Nick O'Halloran

Nick co-founded Maxwell Forest with CEO Matt Denton. He brings decades of entrepreneurial experience and success in business to the Maxwell Forest team. Nick is a graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and was previously the owner of Ferrari Racing Australia as well as a leading Australian property development company.

Matt Denton

Matt, our CEO and co-founder, is the creative force behind our products. He began his career in product development at Apple before building his own multimedia agency, where he provided creative products and services for a range of clients including Sony, CommBank, Telstra and BMW. To date, Matt has taken over 180 projects and products to market, from direct consumer B2B products and entertainment media through to complex financial tools for companies like AMP. At Maxwell Forest, he continues to push the boundaries of technology to create better experiences for users.

Steve Lauder

Our Safedome Product Owner, Steve, brings 25 years’ experience of solving challenging problems to Maxwell Forest. With a background in retail, wholesaling, digital marketing, and e-commerce startups, he works with teams across the company to bring Safedome to life. He’s passionate about deploying digital solutions for retail and B2B clients, and inspires people to work collaboratively and responsively.

Karen Callaghan

Karen, our Head of Customer Experience, loves working with human behaviour and solving problems. People never fail to surprise her, and she’ll always seek out the best solution for the user over the easiest option. She leads our research and design activities, providing expert advice to the business and technical teams to ensure Safedome aligns to user needs. Karen’s knack for designing simple solutions that remove complexity from the user experience has seen her work with a diverse range of companies, from financial institutions such as Westpac, CommBank, and MLC through to the retail giants Westfield, Woolworths, and Jurlique. She also teaches UX design at General Assembly in Sydney.

Phil Webster

Phil, our Head of Operations, is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Safedome team and business. He works with stakeholders throughout all stages of the product lifecycle, from conception to delivery. Phil started out as a producer at the UK's first webhouse in the early nineties, then worked his way up through project management to program management and now operations. Over the years he has worked for both enterprise and smaller agencies in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia His client list includes American Express, Foxtel, Lufthansa, and Renault. Phil creates a high performance culture, and applies his broad interests and innate curiosity to each task he tackles.

Marc Thompson

Marc, our CTO, leads our technology team and is responsible for our technology strategy and architecture. He joined the Safedome team from Fairfax, where he led technology and product teams to deliver e-commerce products, secure membership and payment platforms, and digital transformation initiatives. Marc enjoys fostering an open and collaborative work environment where everyone is motivated to deliver a high quality product into the hands of real customers. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Information Systems.

Aamir Jelani

Our Tech Lead, Aamir, is an expert in end-to-end software development. He has honed his skills working in a range of sectors, from telecommunications, banking, and retail to geoscience and social networking. As Tech Lead, Aamir ensures the mobile development team builds solutions that are robust, scalable, and maintainable. He works closely with Marc, our CTO, to define and implement Safedome’s technical direction, and the product team, to align development goals with our overall product vision. Motivated by the fast-paced growth of emerging technologies, Aamir applies his knowledge and experience to develop innovative solutions that benefit everyone.

Sucha Perera

Sucha leads the QA team in planning and executing testing in an agile environment. She works closely with the product owner, UX/UI and engineering teams to ensure thorough testing is performed on Safedome. With seven years’ experience in system testing and networking, Sucha has a vast knowledge of digital products that operate in client-server, web-based, mobile and/or firmware applications. She holds degrees in Management Information Systems and Information Technology - Systems Analyst from the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Sri Lanka and Charles Sturt University, Sydney.

Priju Paul

Priju is a Senior Android Developer who builds and improves upon the Safedome code base for Android. Before joining the Safedome team, Priju gained experience as a senior developer and team leader at a diverse range of companies, including Mint Payments, Samsung, Symphony Teleca, Nokia, and Key Point Technologies. He is inspired by the dynamic nature of technology, and is passionate about putting his learnings into practice.

Shubhangi Shinde

​Shubhangi is one of our test analysts for Safedome. She works collaboratively with the product, UX/UI and engineering teams, providing early feedback, identifying and reducing risks, and tightening release cycles. Since completing her QA software testing certification, ​Shubhangi has gained broad experience in testing websites, iOS and Android mobile applications, product battery life, and client-server applications.

Sally Langford

Sally is our Digital Communications Manager and Content Strategist for Safedome. She is a seasoned copywriter, content creator, and digital marketer. After a short stint working with theatre production companies, Sally began specialising in marketing communications. She has since worked with a diverse range of multinational corporations, SMEs, and for-purpose organisations. She holds degrees from the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney.

Debra Jason

Our Brand and Marketing Lead, Debra, drives the product marketing and brand creation for Safedome. With over twenty years of experience in leading design agencies in London and Sydney, she brings an intelligent and bold approach to corporate and product branding, and has won numerous awards for her work.

Gordon Spremic

Gordon is our Firmware and App QA Engineer. He has created a high coverage test jig for the manufacture of Safedome cards, and is involved in the QA testing of the Safedome embedded firmware and the iOS and Android apps. Gordon brings a diverse range of experience to the role, from designing integrated circuits as a research scientist at GEC to founding Veltek/Arrow Electronics Australia. When he’s not designing the latest technology, you’ll find Gordon on the court, coaching a high school volleyball team.

Carl Che

Carl, our Firmware Developer, is responsible for our firmware design and development and the system interface design (between both iOS and the firmware and Android). He has over two decades of experience in communication, telecommunications, computer applications and embedded system design. Carl wants to improve our quality of life through technology. His particular interests include Bluetooth and other IoT technologies, Linux, Robot and automation.

Gynelle Juan

Gynelle, our Visual Designer, is responsible for UI and brand development. Before joining the Safedome team, Gynelle was designing websites, publishing student magazines and participating in design exhibitions. She is inspired by great ideas and good causes, and she loves to help solve problems in a collaborative workspace. Gynelle holds a Bachelor of Visual Communication from Western Sydney University.

Shannan Sainsbury

Shannan, our CX Designer, is focused on designing and improving the Safedome customer experience. Her experience and qualifications in UX design, fine arts, film and digital image inform her approach to CX. Shannan believes in intuitive and efficient customer-centric design. She is passionate about lifelong learning, and her enthusiasm and positivity are thoroughly infectious.

Anthony Merry

Anthony is Safedome’s Hardware Designer. He is truly an expert in his field, with 30+ years’ experience in telecommunications, optical fibre communication, submarine cable modem development, RF, and radio. Anthony is inspired by cutting edge technology, and has maintained a lifelong passion for learning. His current obsession is IoT, and he is a proponent of extensive testing. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Monash University.

Mario Lopez

Senior Android Developer Mario devotes his time and energy to building the little green robot version of Safedome. He began his career at Rai (Italy’s main television broadcaster) as a junior Android developer. He honed his skills at a psychic company and an e-learning company before moving to Australia in 2016, where he joined Invoice2go. Now he’s living the dream, working for Safedome in Sydney. Mario is driven by a desire to improve and innovate, and is only satisfied by the best result possible.
